Wiltipoll

The Wiltipoll is an excellent shedding breed that has a large carcass with high fertility.  The Wiltipoll was developed from Wiltshire Horns when the breeders in the mid-1990s recognised the poll breed was a more efficient producer of prime lambs.  The requirement for a sheep to be recognized as a Wiltipoll, is they have no less than 96.87% Wiltshire Horn blood.  They must be polled and must totally shed their fleece annually.

The BreedersBEST base flock was established with the importation of 120 embryos from Ardo Stud – the largest Wiltipoll stud in New Zealand and 76 implanted embryos from Beela Rise at Brunswick, WA. The subsequent progeny have undergone numerous embryo transfer programs with elite semen from Beela Rise and Geoff Grewar.
