The Seven Stages of the BreedersBEST Lamb Management System

Stage 1 |
Genetic supplier maternal ram genetics BreedersBEST produces high fertility, composite maternal ram i.e. BreedersBEST prolific, as pictured below.

Stage 2 |
BreedersBEST Prolific maternal ewe multiplier Producers breed first-cross ewes by joining their Merino, Dohne or Samm cross ewes to high fertility, composite maternal rams. The BreedersBEST Prolific ewe lambs will be sold exclusively to BreedersBEST for a guaranteed minimum price and will be the foundation of our unique lamb production system. |

Stage 3 |
BreedersBEST commercial lamb producer BreedersBEST Prolific ewes from stage 2 enter the BreedersBEST commercial lamb producer stage and are joined to selected terminal sires. BreedersBEST selected sires are highly ranked rams sourced from leading terminal studs. They are selected for rapid growth rates and other economic traits that complement the F1 composite ewe flock.

Stage 4, 5 and 6 Through current genetics on both the maternal and terminal side, it is envisaged that BreedersBEST will target medium to heavy weight, local and export markets with a constant, intensively managed genetic base, coupled with a monitored, consistent finishing system. The product will have full traceability and therefore should demand a premium price.Once critical mass is achieved, alliance partners will be sought for slaughter and processing. |
